The need to include bus protection in an integrated protection and control system for the entire substation [7,13,35] has rekindled interest in digital bus protection. Digital bus protection in an integrated system is dependent on the currents in all the circuit breakers and switches connected to the bus being available. The primary concern in the design of a bus protection system is with saturation of the current transformer. A saturated secondary current due to a remnant flux in the core is shown in Figure 18.
